Programs Overview

The English Language Center at Ð԰ɵ¼º½ offers accredited programs and special services for adult English language learners who wish to advance academically and professionally in a diverse, welcoming and supportive environment.

The Drexel English Language Center's programs are designed to help you meet your individual goals more quickly. The Intensive English program will prepare you for study at an American university. Undergraduate students who qualify for and successfully complete our International Gateway Program can matriculate into Ð԰ɵ¼º½. We also offer undergraduate and graduate provisional admissions programs for study at Drexel. In addition, the English Language Center Admissions Process Support Program provides you with expert guidance through the college and university application process.

Each summer, we provide a service specifically for new International Teaching Assistants (ITAs), and we custom cultural immersion programs for international groups such as teachers and undergraduate students.

Intensive English Program

The Intensive English Program prepares students for academic study at an American university. Ð԰ɵ¼º½'s program offers courses that meet the academic, personal and professional needs of international students. All incoming international students take a placement test to determine the student's level of study. Intensive English Program students attend classes for 21 hours a week from Monday through Friday.

  • Eight levels of study from beginner to advanced
  • Courses run year-round from six- to 11-weeks
  • Program includes pre-academic coursework
  • Program includes TOEFL/IELTS test preparation

Conditional and Provisional Admissions Programs

The English Language Center and its partner institutions offer conditional and provisional admissions programs for undergraduate, graduate and associate degree students who will benefit from additional English language support and who meet Ð԰ɵ¼º½’s academic requirements.

Conditional Admissions Program

  • International Gateway Program – This is a conditional undergraduate admissions program for Ð԰ɵ¼º½. The International Gateway Program is a pathway for international students who would benefit from additional English language preparation before matriculating into an undergraduate program at Drexel.

Provisional Admissions Programs

The English Language Center Admissions Process Support Program (ELCAPS)

Each phase of the Drexel English Language Center Admissions Process Support Program provides appropriate and timely guidance through the college and university application process. The remote component during the Fall session will immerse you in the process of applying to colleges and universities, test preparation, and essay writing as quickly and efficiently as possible.

  • You will build on and continue your progress through customized courses and workshops, which provide continued support and accountability as you navigate the process.
  • You will engage in community service activities that allow you to practice English and learn about American culture. In addition, you will build a stronger college application that demonstrates volunteerism.
  • You may apply for admission to the Drexel English Language Center's Admissions Process Support program each academic year beginning in the Fall term and after. The Center offers flexibile start dates to accommodate students’ schedules that are typically unknown until release of government scholarships. This usually involves starting the Admissions Process Support program in the Fall, around the second week of September.

Cultural Immersion Programs

Each summer, the English Language Center at Ð԰ɵ¼º½ offers custom cultural immersion programs designed to meet the needs of specific groups of ten or more people. Programs are typically focused on teachers and undergraduate students, as well as grant-funded initiatives, ESL (English as a Second Language) and ESP (English for Specific Purposes).
