You can apply directly to two of our programs, the Intensive English Program and the Gateway Program. The requirements for admission to each of the programs can be found on this page, so you can determine which program best meets your needs and apply to the program you choose.

Drexel Intensive English Program

Ð԰ɵ¼º½'s Intensive English Program prepares students for academic study at an American university. The courses in our program are designed to meet the academic, personal, and professional needs of students. The program offers eight levels of study from foundation to advanced. All incoming students take a placement test to determine their levels.

Admissions Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old when your term of study begins.
  • Test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) are not required.
  • You must purchase health insurance from the Drexel English Language Center or show adequate coverage from your own plan during your studies.
  • The Drexel English Language Center accepts students who hold a visa category which allows them to legally study in the United States.
  • Admission to Drexel English Language Center does not imply or guarantee admission to Ð԰ɵ¼º½ or any other university.

Drexel International Gateway Program

The International Gateway Program at Ð԰ɵ¼º½ is a conditional admission program that offers qualified international students a foundation year of academic and English language courses. Successful completion of the International Gateway Program allows students to transfer directly into their major at Ð԰ɵ¼º½. Interested students can apply directly to the International Gateway Program and start in September for the Fall Term, in January for the Winter Term, or in March/April for the Spring term.

Requirements

  • Students must be academically qualified for admission to their major of choice at Ð԰ɵ¼º½.
  • Applicants must select an undergraduate major they wish to enter into after Gateway. Applicants may also select a second-choice major in case they do not meet the qualifications for their first choice. Students must meet all of the program-specific requirements, in addition to general University criteria.
  • Students must meet the minimum required English language proficiency determined by submission of standardized English assessment scores.

  • Students with higher scores should apply to Ð԰ɵ¼º½ for direct Undergraduate Admission.
  • Students with lower scores are welcome to apply for Drexel's Intensive English program. Students with other scores (SAT, ACT, Trinity ISE, MET, etc.) should email the Gateway program to determine if their scores are acceptable.
  • Students who successfully complete the Gateway program transfer into a full-time, matriculated undergraduate program at Drexel. All applicants are required to indicate a first choice of major and a second choice major.
